Also, animals that requires to be fed with "live" food, for example mice) cannot be accepted. Any animal that is insectivorous (eating worms, grasshoppers, etc.) can be accepted.
Unfortunately, considering our actual facilities, we regret that we are not ble to accept a dog over 40 pounds. Please ask your shelter representative to contact us should you want us to find a temporary home for him or her. We will gladly help you efficiently and promptly and make sure that a comfortable and caring home is found for your big size buddy.
Your computer does keep memory of the sites you visit.

Did you know somebody could commit an assault without touching you? If someone threatens to hurt you, your property, children or pets, and you reasonably believe he or she will do it, it could be considered an assault.
This relates to the Criminal code of Canada, art. 264.1 et 266, and applies to all canadian provinces (our source is Sargent Lemay, municipal police of the city of Terrebonne). We invite you to contact police officers in your city or the shelter agent you will meet should you need any legal advice.

We only use cages at night or when the animal's health, behavior, habits require such restrain. Cages will be used only to ensure adequate protection, salubrity, comply with prescribed medical treatment or general quietness of our premises.
You are not alone and what has happened is not your fault or responsability. Somebody wants to dominate you and nobody deserves to be misstreated. There is help, there is hope, there is recovery; please consult our Links page for some of the available resources.
We are a duly registered non profit organism.
Stay duration
You will need a few weeks up to a few months to schedule your new life and we will be there for your domestic pet for as long as you will be in recovery. We will keep in touch with your shelter and transition center representatives, and yourself when possible, during this entire period to allow us to evaluate the duration of your animal staying at the mission.
We do not foresee being able to host an animal for a period exceeding six (6) months. However, should you need more time, we will continue to take responsibility for your companion's security and well-being with the same diligent, affectionate and devoted attention. Nevertheless, the demand for our services is huge; we trust you will contact us and inform, as soon as you are able to, of the expected moment of your ability to assume your companion's guardianship.

L'AnimAlarm...
Did your spouse ever threaten to hurt you? Did your spouse in deed hurt you afterwards?
Did your spouse ever threaten to hurt the children? Did your spouse later did hurt them?
Did your spouse ever threaten to hit, hurt or kill the domestic animal? Did your spouse hurt the animal in the past?
If you answered Yes to one or more of the above questions, that you are prepared to escape this home, please consult our Web site attentively. It is within these pages that you will find the voluntary help and assistance you need for your pet companion.
You do not have to leave the animal behind anymore, nor to leave it to a shelter for having it in a cage for weeks or months, or even to leave it with a family member or friend, which can jeopardize their own safety.
IMPORTANT: When preparing your emergency suitcase for leaving the domestic house, please think about bringing the health book of your animal.

The veterinary informations it contains will be helpful to us and to your companion.
For our mission to serve in priority women and their children where there is domestic violence that seek sheltering for themselves, you will understand that we cannot accept animals where there is only a separation. Our mission is an ultimate resource, for abused and not wealthy women that cannot rely on a familial or social support. We do not have enough places to accomodate low priority cases, when there is no abuse or violence involved. Should you be wealthy enough to consider a private boarding facility to take care temporarily of your animal, please do so.
YOU must be as responsible as we are to help us satisfy the demand, and make sure you search for other alternatives to our mission. For example, we suggest that you first try to entrust
- a friend
- a parent
- a colleague
- any other person in your entourage that might volunteer to welcome your animal for a while
Your social worker or shelter officer will contact us after making sure you search for alternatives to our mission, which should only be contacted as a last resort.
Being limited by the facilities surface and volunteers available, we will give the best welcome, lodging and caring attention to your pet, should you be sheltered yourself and without any other resources.

The PausANImale service
During your stay at the women shelter or as you are working to take back control of your life, it might been emotionally necessary for your, and your children, to see your domestic animal once in a while. With the assistance of your shelter responsible person, we can settle a mutually comfortable and secure place to meet with your companion, assuming that its species allows such travelling!
We will bring your compagnion to meet you and your children for a few minutes or hour. We recommend these occasional meetings, especially for the children: they are loosing a parent no matter what, sometimes changing school and loosing friends, in brief, they are unstable both physically and emotionnaly. Being reunited with their companion just may ease that burden for them, and for the mother as well.
According to the availibility of our volunteers, we can repeat these meetings once in a while and rest assured that we will always do our very best to support you and your children as much as we can.
Please, feel comfortable to ask us more about this unique service and write us: animescale@live.ca or ask your shelter representative to give you our flyer and explain this service to you.
Remember, absolutely no charge to you: we are at proud to be at your service and our work is volunteer.
